If you don't know anyone with a scanner to read the code(s), baby it down to the closest Auto Zone (if you're obdii) or somewhere else that can read it. The code will tell you what's going on.

I second that, Get the codes read and we'll go from there.

Could be many things- EGR, MAF, coil or anything

Your car can misfire and the light will come on steady, but if it's flashing that means your catalytic converters are in danger of being damaged. It could be that the misfire count is high enough to were to much raw fuel is being dumped into the catalytic converters. Excessive amounts of raw fuel going into to the converters well melt the catalyst inside. This will block thee exhaust flow which will hurt your engines performance.

They usually just read them for you if you go to Auto Zone....just write down any codes and post'em up. Don't know what they use, if they let you borrow one look on the menu for DTC codes or something similar after plugging it into the port under the dash, probably have to turn the key to RUN without starting the car also.

Geezz, by the time they get your deposit you could have any codes and be gone. If you are in Jax I can read them for you.

its pretty self explanitory once you cut it on. plug it in, turn it on, its probably gonna ask you some question about the car. once you do that, it'll come up with some options. look for a "trouble codes" or "list DTCs" or something to that effect. write them all down and then post them on here.

The Autozones-Advances around here read them for you. they can even look them up in thier book to what them mean. I am not saying that the guy/gal helping will know exactly what it is. They can give you a description of what it is. It will take about 5 minutes in the parking lot to read the codes.
