I thought maybe it was because the tranny mount was allowing the tranny to move too freely, and it was hitting the floorpan or something...

Is there any difference between Polyurethane and Prothane, or is this the same material? I thought Prothane was a little softer than Polyurethane, am I wrong? If this is the same thing why do some products say thier polyurethane mounts and some say thier prothane mounts?

+1 For stock rubber motor mounts. Rubber mounts will "wear out" after many vibration cycles and will lose their elasticity so they will need to be replace every so often. Plus having an engine that "gives" a little reduces the shock load to the rest of the drive train esp. for a manual transmission

I got polys put in. With a 400 rwhp heads/cam setup mostly all I noticed was that my shifter wasn't wobbling around everywhere anymore and that my headers weren't banging the undercarriage. The vibration at least in my case is.... I don't know I'm still wondering what this vibration is that comes with the polys.
