Exclamation Wheel Is Stuck on!!!

My Ebrake light has been stuck on for a few days so I finally got a chance to work on my car. So i jack up my car and go to take the rear driver side wheel off and its seized on. So I put some WD 40 on it. Bang the crap out of it from the front and back. I put the lugs on about 1/4inch from touching the wheel and drove around really slow and backed up onto ramps and tryed to put a bunch of load on it but nothing helps. Anyone have any help to getting this damn wheel off?!!!

Sounds like it may of heat siezed onto the hub. You could try taking a propane torch and heating up the hub with the car jacked up and using a rubber mallett to see if that would dislodge it.

I doubt the ebrake is sticking even though the light stays on because when I jack up the rear i can turn the rear whjeels with relative ease

Its not the wheel is seized to the rotor.

Actually it is siezed to the hub, not the actual rotor but for the most part that is the jist of it.

It will have to be kncked off of the hub. Try heating the outside of the wheels flange up and see if that will help some.

This has happened to me before - you just have to beat on the inside side of thetire with a log or 2x4. Be careful, but that's what you have to do. When I put my wheels on now, I put the tiniest amount of white grease on the wheel's face. Never happened to me again!

You just need to get it secured safe on stands and kick the hell out of the back side of the tire near the edge of the tire, keep the lugs just barely on to keep it from flying off.Only way I know of that worked for me in the past with other cars.

I use to work at a tire shop. Just like everyone is saying that is the only way to get it off. Get you a 3 foot long sledge hammer and beat the hell outta the tire. Try not to hit the rim though! Unless you really don't care about your wheels!!!!

I'm a fan of the "beat it into submission" method. I had one I had to let soak in WD40 for a day, before I could beat it off.

Like Grimes; I also put a thin film grease on the pilot diameter, whenever I take a wheel or rotor/drum off. Don't grease the threads or the faces.

And the bad news... the other side is probably stuck, too. Hmmmm... check it now.... or later, on the side of the road, in the rain, at night, armed with a tire iron.

He was incredibly vague on this. If you do it, don't losen them more then 1-2 turns.

Okat guys Im gonne try that. But Ive got another problem. My ebrake light stays on even when I put it down and only works when I pull the handle WAY to the top, but When I jack the car up I can turn the rear wheels with ease even though the brake light is on, but the handle is down. Also sometimes when leaving a light I hear a ERRT sound. and it sounds like it is coming from the drums in the rear used for the parking brake. Any suggestion?

I could be wrong, but isn't the brake light the same for the E-brake and low brake fluid? If so, check the brake level in the master cylinder.

Put the lugs on about half way (if your concerned about scratching your wheel wrap paper towels around the lugs with a rubber band to prevent them scratching your wheels when the wheel breaks loose).... get a 2x4.... and get a BIG hammer. Put the 2x4 against the back of the wheel... and beat the hell out of that 2x4.. and don't be a sissy about it.. you beat it hard enough and it'll come off. Torch is a good idea too.

I dealt with a wheel like this yesterday with a new project car. It's no fun.

If that doesnt work... get a bigger hammer.

As far as the E-brake handle being way to the top.. it needs to be adjusted or you need new e-brake shoes. Yes check your master cylinder level as well. Does the wheel spin freely?... How about with the handle halfway up?.. Unless you've been using your ebreak for drifting or hardstopping the pads shouldn't be worn out. Your ebreak cable could be stretched out.
