I have a few extra of the correct springs that take care of the problem. Easy 2min install. With one hit of the button, and hatch pops way up, well out of the latch assy.

Buck or so and cover the shipping and it yours. PM

I have to hit mine probably 100 times and it doesnt work . I have to lift up on the hatch and press the keyfob button to open it . Mine is a faulty piece in there though as we found out when I swapped hatches. I need a whole new mechanism .

Yup I have to hit the button on the remote twice, while pulling up at the right time. Sometimes it requires another click before it will let go.

The extra spring mod doesn't work for very long. I added mine probably 5 years ago & it maybe worked for a year, and its the same spring they used from Lowes. Now it's the same as it was, I have to push it once so it partially comes up, and again to get it to release the hatch

I did the spring mod too, I piggy-backed it to the stock spring and it only worked for a year. Now i'm back to 2-4 button presses. This **** pisses me off!
