Default Oil Pressure has changed - cause for concern?

I noticed two days ago that my oil pressure has been higher than normal, my car normaly Idles at about 25-30 psi and tops out around 55-60 psi at WOT. The past two days it's been idling at about 40 psi and topping out past 80 psi at WOT. I checked the oil level yesterday and it was about a quart low so I topped it off but the oil pressure is still way up there. It has never been that high before, the car has 136,000 miles but has had oil changes every 3500 miles. Could this be a sensor? Oil pump about to crap out? I installed a cam a couple months back but have had no problems with the car since. What's ya'lls opinion on this? Thanks

BTW, this is a 98 model Z-28 and I didn't swap the oil pump when I changed the cam so it's still stock.

Yeah, it's been down in the twenties at night and thirties during the day. I've never noticed it shooting up that high before but I guess it could be cold weather making the oil thicker. I didn't think about that... Thanks

Cold weather will do it every time. I generally notice a 5-10psi jump when the weather gets cold, vs the psi I normally see in the summer heat.

Keep an eye on it though. Going from 55-60 at WOT to 80+ is a pretty big jump. I've personally never noticed a jump that big just due to weather before. But I've also never had the car out when the temps are in the 20s.

Thanks guys, thought I'd ask to make sure something wasn't going on. This cold weather sucks, I'm about ready for T-top weather anyway!

cold weather will increase your oil pressure, but not that much if i were you, i'd get your car scanned and make sure your gauge is accurate. it may SAY 80 psi but in all actuality it may be 65 psi. 80 is too high IMO, but then again, i don't build cars.
