Changed my differential fluid - got a question
Just changed my rear differential fluid following the instructions at http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...id_install.htm.
I didnt use a gasket, I used gasket maker. After the install I started to wonder about the two holes on the differential housing that are simply covered by the differential cover. The gasket maker is going to run right through the center of the holes and not seal them off. Is this a problem?
Heres how I did the gasket maker, the holes on the housing would be adjacent to the two dark circles you see but on the flange.

Its leaking now. I dont know if its because of what I asked before or I just screwed up in general.
I am going to redo the gasket maker or use a gasket. My only questions is can I reuse the differential fluid?

I use a gasket and then use pipe tape on the treads of all the threaded hardware. Mine don't leak at all. If you don't use pipe tape, the threaded hardware will leak....I know, as I didn't use pipe tape the first time I did it years ago and eventually the threads started to leak.

You can use the gasket maker silicone you already have, just put a thin bead on the gasket - I do both sides of the gasket, tighten it down an wip off what squeezes out. No more leaks
