You can't go wrong with that stuff either (unless it's during the winter and you live north of upper Alberta!).

I beleive the M1 0W40 and 5W40 are still group 4 synthetics, therefore still a true synthetic. The other M1 weights are a group 3 now, and could be considered a "blend".

Greetings

My now 'gone' 88 IROC had 335K miles on the 'never opened' motor. I used dino oil for nearly the entire life of that car. When I sold the car............. the motor was tight and strong.

For my current 01 Z28 I'm still using Dino (10-30) oil and see no reason to do otherwise. Car has 95K miles on it and has always used a little bit of oil. Probably around 1 quart every 3K miles. I'm going to try the ACDELCO CV4000C PCV and see it that makes a difference. Will post the results of that change.

Good thread.............. would be better if the personal attacks were toned down a bit.

Sorry to bring this back up but my issue pertains to this thread. When I bought my 99 SS it had 36K on the clock. At that time it had NO piston slap at all. Well I decided when it was time to change the oil I would switch to Mobil 1 10W-30. Well right after that I started to notice ALOT of piston slap.

Well I didnt put 2 and 2 together and just figured I have a "slapper" and lived with it. Now fast forward 3 years and the car now has 58K on the clock. Right now money is tight because we are saving for a wedding so the other day I changed the oil with MaxLife (VERY good oil with a good add pack according to the wear numbers and TBN from alot of guys at bobistheoilguy). Well low and behold the piston slap went right away and has not returned. With the Mobil 1 it sounded like the pistons were about to come through the side of the block when you started it up and even once fully warmed up if you listened close you could still hear it. Now with MaxLife is is 100% GONE.

VERY STRANGE! Also mine does not use any oil at all.
