I took the pinion out today along with the rest of the contents of the rear, save for the pinion bearing races. The foreward (smaller) pinion bearing had quite a bit of wobble in all three dimentions once the pinion assembly was removed. Is this normal?
A friend of mine said that the random piece I found when removeing the diff could be a piece of the pinion shim. Alas the pinion shim is intact between the aft pinion bearing (larger) and the pinion gear.
I have not yet found the rest of the mystery "shim". If it where intact it's outside diameter would be approx 3", its inside diameter would be aprox 2". It's 3/16" thick and 7/16th" wide. One side is tapered on the inner and outer edges. Anyone have any idea where this piece goes? Or where the rest of it is/could be?
I'll post pictures of the piece later.

Something got into the spider gears in the torsen and the diff locked up. The clunking was the rear end unloading as the inside wheel was trying to spin at the same speed as the outside wheel... also I twisted an axle
