untrackable misfire!!
It is not as bad as it looks...it only takes a half hour to get both valvecovers off. Trust me it's easier to check that first than to go hunting for an electrical problem in 10 miles of wire that comprises the f-body electrical system 
not tryin to hijack but dont even remind me about the wiring in this car... mine wont start and theres a short somewhere in the starter wiring....
pull the covers and hope youre lucky enough you find the problem in a little spring lmao...

i like the way you think! lol. i have a bad feeling it's not gonna be a spring. i've had a lifter ticking since i bought the car...pretty sure it's gonna end up being that. how big a job is that? i'm not afraid to tear into it, just curious. thanks again for all the help guys.

well, it wasn't a spring, so i guess the head comes off tomorrow. how can you tell if a lifter is bad by looking at it? also, what would you all recommend changing while i have it apart?

WELL, CAMMED AND HAVING MISFIRE ISSUE VERY VERY SIMILAR, Problem is, i pulled my valv vocers about four weeks ago, inspected my springs, seats, retainers, lockes, rockers, adn found nothing, put the car back together, and she ran beautiful. WEll, got home today, pulled cover off, and she runs like pure crap again. Only thing i haven't tried is checking for possible bent valve. sinc epulling the heads anyway, ppped them out, and check for trueness.

Have you inspected the coil pack harness, My buddys car was doing something similar to this and we found it had a chaffed wire on the pass side coil pack. I would Pull the coil pack remove the harness and inspect it closely, unplug all of the coils on that side and put a little dielectric grease on all the electrical plugs including the main harness plug. With the coil pack off remove the valve cover and have a look, maybe you have a bent push or some thing else going on in there, It would be worth a look. Good luck -Dave

i have inspected everything. haven't been able to find any visible problems. the intake is off and the head is the next, as soon as my buddy stops bleeding. hopefully after all this bloodshed, something gets fixed.

well, i have the lifters out, gonna start puttin everything back together tomorrow. What is the best way to get all the old gasket off the head? also, are there any tips you guys can offer on puttin this thing back together?

i couldn't tell anything from just looking at the lifters, so i just changed all 8 on that side. this has been the job from hell. right now i'm working on getting a valve cover bolt out of the head. it broke off at about 3am last night. i'm about to give up and have it flatbedded to a shop somewhere.

well, just in case anyone is monitoring this thread, I got the bolt out. waiting on the new valve cover bolts to show up tomorrow. gonna add some coolant, change the oil, bolt the rest of the crap on, hook up the plugs, and hope the problem is fixed. I'll post the results tomorrow....hopefully.
