Default Is the gasket for the tube off the manifold that goes to the check valve necessary?

I'm replacing the check valve and I was hoping to reuse the gasket on there but its pretty much disentigrated beyond it's useful life. Is it necessary?

I thought I read somewhere you don't need it but search isn't working.

Can I get one at autozone or Murray's or do I have to go through the dealer or order one?

If it had a gasket, it still needs a gasket. Not sure what gasket you are talking about though...

I'd just leave the old one, or what's left of it, there and connect it. You can always replace it later. GM PN is 12553617 - maybe the parts store can cross-reference it.

Thanks. Murray's ordered one for me. Autozone had it in stock but would only sell it to me if I bought the manifold gasket as well. ****** ********!

The cool thing is I finally found the exhaust leak that I could never figure out where it was coming from. You could only hear it under acceleration so it was almost impossible to pin down. The old one wasn't even installed right from the factory. It was on crooked and part of it was missing which was causing a small leak. You can see the carbon all over the manifold where it was leaking at.

Yes you need that gasket.

They are dirt cheap from anywhere, even the dealer.

Yeah they're cheap, got mine from the dealer - came 6 to a package. I've given most of them away to friends when they did plug changes in case they needed one.
