Normal Spark Plug Wear?

Normal Spark Plug Wear?
Yesterday I changed out the plugs in my 02 WS6 with 33k miles on it. This was the first time the plugs were changed in this car. I'm no expert on plug wear, so I was hoping that if I posted a picture of the old plugs that someone would take a look and let me know what they think.
All 8 plugs look the same, so at least that's a good sign. I just can't believe how much of the center electrode is gone. I replaced these with NGK TR-55's.

My Haynes manual has pictures in the back of different types of spark plug wear, but none that look like that. I wonder why it would taper to a point like that. The only picture that is similar shows the electrode being worn down smoothly, sort of rounded over, and this is listed as wear from leaving them in too long. I don't know why you would have so much wear at 33k miles though, I'd like to hear what others have to say.

Its a platinum (sp?) plug thats why the electrode looks so small. Mine looked like that at 29,00 mi. Im sure they were still fine (no misfire dtc's or drivability problems). Just changed them since they were out for the long tubes anyway.

That's what the stock plugs looked like on my '98 when I pulled them at 12,000 miles.
Seems fine to me, for a platinum tip plug.

My stock plugs looked worse than that when I swapped them out around 50k. It made me wonder why GM would tell people to leave them in until 100k. Sure the car might still run but how well?
