Talking The Never Ending Belt Squeal.

Long story short I have changed out all the belts (the main accessory drive belt twice), changed the idler pulley and rebuilt the tensioner pulley.

Yet I STILL have a violent squeal under the hood, belt dressing or WD40 oil quiet it for short periods (and are making a mess under the hood).

Any thoughts or direction on the matter would be appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I was told that there was a service bulletin for the alternator bracket being out of line causing it or something like that. Hope someone chimes in!

loose belts will tend to get dust or moisture under them, causeing a squeal.....

to tight belts will just squeal period sometimes...

If the TSB was released in '99, can it still be applied to a 2002?

i had a squeak, it was the top AC idler pulley, replaced it, and it was good as new.

Seen a mechanic once fix a new squeeling belt by holding a flat screwdriver tip to the backside of belt as the engine idled. This scraped of glue or some coating that was causing the sqeeling. It worked.
