Have you tried to open the doors with the key?

That's strange, does the key work in the doors/t-tops OK? Mine works better with the key - don't have to keep hitting the 2X 3 or 4 times to get it to pop.

It sounds like the hatch and/or lock has been changed. If you pull it out and take it to a locksmith, they can rekey it to your key.

+1 Yep sounds right. I bet you're not the original owner. Sometimes parts get swapped with salvage yard parts. In your case the key doesn't work. I could be wrong though. If you are the original owner then it seems GM fudged up.

edit: oops didn't see you just got the car 8 months ago. I'm glad to see I was right for a change.

Are you sure it's not a valet key? Can you lock/unlock the glovebox?

FYI, there's a mod for this that involves buying a heavier duty spring that pops the hatch open better. It should be around the forum somewhere. I remember seeing it a long time ago.

http://www.blackcamaro.com/trunklid.htm

I replaced my spring instead of the piggy-back method though.

in case you didn't know, u have to wait at least one second after hitting it initially for the hatch to pop up. that's a safety feature so you don't accidentally hit the button at a random time and it pops out of nowhere.

Not on mine.
As long as the car is in Park (A4), it opens immediately with the press of the yellow button. If the car is not in Park (A4), the button won't open the hatch. On the M6, I think the e-brake performs the safety lockout feature. Can anyone with a M6 confirm?

I think he's referring to the button on the remote that you have to hold down to pop the hatch, not the yellow button inside the car.

You have to hit the button twice on the remote... hence the X2 written on it.

It just pops up a little like the hood, but without a secondary latch, and you have to pull it up.

Before doing something else, lubricate the lock and check. WD-40 or something...
