cant open hatch with key?

cant open hatch with key? i got my car 8 mos ago and never used my key to open the hatch, ive always used the remote, the other day i used my key for kicks, the key slides right in but wont turn! whats up with that? thanks

It sounds like the hatch and/or lock has been changed. If you pull it out and take it to a locksmith, they can rekey it to your key.
edit: oops didn't see you just got the car 8 months ago. I'm glad to see I was right for a change.

I replaced my spring instead of the piggy-back method though.

As long as the car is in Park (A4), it opens immediately with the press of the yellow button. If the car is not in Park (A4), the button won't open the hatch. On the M6, I think the e-brake performs the safety lockout feature. Can anyone with a M6 confirm?

yes my key works on the glove box.
wait a minute here, when you guys press the yellow button or your remotes, the trunk pops open?? like all the way open? mine just unlocks and i have to pull it up like the hood... is the popping up thing stock?
