Heat coming in from the floorboards????
Its really strange, anyone know what might be causing this???
Thanks!
1. Because of the RWD V8 drivetrain layout, the exhaust heats up the floorboards even with the proper heat shielding in place. Normal characteristic of just about every RWD V8 I've ever driven. It gets MUCH worse with uncoated headers!
2. Improper use or malfunction of the HVAC system. Hot engine coolant flows to the heater core. With the HVAC system in the OFF setting, the lack of vacuum opens up the DEFROST and FLOOR doors. Driving around creates pressure at the base of the windshield (HVAC fresh air inlet) and moves air through the HVAC system even with the fan off. Hot heater core + open floor door + airflow = hot floorboards. Some manufacturers incorporate a fresh air/recirculate manual mode that is selectable even with the HVAC off. A VERY good idea!
