Surging lights
Surging lights The lights in my SS surge a lot of the time and is really noticeable at night. It affects all the lights (radio, headlights, instruments, etc.). Ive got stock pulleys and a optima red top battery.
I had this same problem in my 95Z but thought it was my under drive pulleys causing it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and have a fix for it?

electrical problems are common in fbodys, im having problems with my car killing batteries right now and its not the alternator, i also had the light surging problem....the wires in these cars tend to not carry a good load, due to heat and being a thin guage...i would look into testing load on some of your wires, also check grounds, sockets for corrosion, and alternator strength

I have experienced this in my 96 SS when I had it and also experience it in my 01 SS I currently have. I haven't been able to figure out what is causing it. I tried to have the dealer look into it when I first got the 96, they gave me the "unable to duplicate the customer complaint" 
I know exactly what your experiencing, but I don't know if it is a cause for concern other than being annoying while driving.

I have the same exact deal with my SS. Have not been able to find it anywhere. I guess its just one of those little quirks that we have to deal with. A friend of mine even went through it who has one of many ASE certifications couldnt find where it would be coming from either.

Do the lights surge with the engine off?
My lights use to flicker at low rpm/idle. Alernator died completely... Replaced.. Flickering gone.
Surging to me sounds alot brighter and more intense to me than flickering though.

It wasn't a surge it was a quick dim of all the lights. Periodically, it would happen. Kind of like when the lights dim at the house when starting a motor(saw,drill, etc) It's only noticeable at nightime with the lights on. Can't tell during the day.

Yea its not noticeable during the day time; only at night. It is something I can live with and have been doing for a long time but was just curious if there was a fix for it. I will check the alternator for issues. Other than that I guess Ill just suck it up.
