thanks for the write up! i did this to my car long ago! its been working great since now! my favorite grease for bearings is the white purpose grease due to the way it waters out when it warms up to get into the bearing!

where is the a/c idler pulley located? is it the very bottom pulley on the passenger side next to the crank pulley? after so many months i finally found the pulley that's squeaking by spraying some wd40 on it. how do i go about removing this pulley? i know how to take out the other pulley that's shown in installuniversity.com, is it the same way for this pulley? thanks

You should be able to replace this bearing with the standard alternator bearing for about $5 brand new. Getting it pressed in the plastic housing without breaking it is another story but I have done this on older serpentine systems all the bearings are the same and all the stores carry them.

NICE WRITE UP MAN !!!!! I THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA IF U FIRST CLEAN THE ENGINE WITH SOME GREASE REMOVER( IF DIRTY) AND THEN DO THIS CUZ I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE STARTED DOING IT ONLY AFTER I CLEANED THE ENGINE BAY LAST YEAR!!!! THAT WAY U ARE GOING TO HAVE A CLEAN ENGINE W/OUT THE SQUEAKING NOISE!!!!!

tording99z28, all parts stores carry a tool/kit to remove stripped screws and bolts I believe they are called easy out thats id I remember correctly. There are other ways but the easy out route is the best route if you dont want to take a chance on hurting the bearing.

I just packed my tensioner and idler pulley bearings. They're quiet now, and I'll listen for it for a few days to see how it holds up then I'll get back here with the report.
