Default Door rattle when window down.

Before I go tearing into the door panel, when the window is up, the door closes solidly and quiet. When it's down, there's something rattling around.

I take it something is wrong with the window so I'm here looking if anyone else has been through this and what to expect. I'm the type that tends to preempt problems before they hit and I want to have the "fixes" necessary so it's a go in fix it deal rather than run around finding parts.

I am going to assume its just the bolts that hold the window to the motor. maybe they are a tad but loose

My driver side did the same thing. I had a broken window guide bracket. I think that is what it is called. It is a rectangle with a felt end on it. You can check that by putting th window down and looking with a flashlight to see if you have two of them. they are right under the weather spripping

The driver's side window on my convertible is really bad when it is partially rolled down. When I close the door it rattles around really loudly.

there is a stop at the top of the door that the window track pushes against to stop the window from rolling up any further and the bolt may be loose on that. That would explain why the rattle only happens with it down cause with it up there is pressure on it to keep it from ratteling. Might not be whats wrong but might be.

mrhzk35404 called it right on, the rear most bracket is "missing" the whole felt piece of the guide. I'll have the replace the bracket.

In unrelated news my passenger side window motor is going. Won't close to the top in one shot.

replacing all my window parts is all most a yearly "treat" for me. lets see, over 5 years i'v had 6 window motors and an assortment of other parts like that bracket going bad. R0ck on GM
