SOMETIMES the float gets stuck, and filing it up with a full tank of gas helps, so i guess it wouldnt hurt to try that also

It not too bad if you stare at it for awhile...
and awhile....
It may fix itself after a fill up. My gage is going, if i am stopped for a while it will drop to empty and will stay like that until i restart the car. As long as your trip odometer works you can just pay attention to that so you dont have to worry about running out of gas.
It does sound like the sending unit went out tho, its not fun to replace, but if you do drop the tank, get a nicer fuel pump while youre at it. You dont wanna drop the tank more than you have to.
