oil leak from ac compressor

I just did my first engine oil change on my new to me 98ss. It has around 45,000 miles. I noticed that the ac compressor has some oil pooling around at the bottom and that the rubber boot on the steering system also has some of the oil on it. The car is kept parked on the grass next to my garage so I have never noticed the oil. The ac seems to be blowing strong and cold. What should I do? Are there seals that can be replaced? Will doing nothing cause other parts of the ac system to break? Thanks

So what ever happened with your compressor? Did it fail? I have the same problem with mine (leaking oil).....but air is cold and the compressor doesnt make any noise?

Yeah I saw the last date he was on after I posted. The oil is clear, yeah I know its coming from the compressor. Its just weird that, its been leaking for the last few months and the air still works. I know about ac systems but just would have thought that if your leaking oil for that long that the compressor would be squealing or have taken a dump by now. Its not leaking from the hose connection going into the compressor but its leaking from one of the joints on the compressor casing.

I guess it will eventually go..........

Probably leaking on the shaft behind the clutch, seriously unless you dont intend to use your ac fix it now. Your compressor will go out and fill your system with crap. Im a trained a/c specialist and that **** gets expensive real quick.
