Default How bad will the oil pan leak with one bolt missing?

I just changed the oil pump and was tightening up the oil pan back up when one bolt started to strip out. I don't know what happened, but any bolt I put in that hole starts to strip out. Can I get by with just leaving that bolt out?

I would only get away with it long enough to get to a mechanic and have him re-thread it and put a new bolt in it

You can either rethread it or use a self tapping screw.

try cleaning it out and putting some thread tape on it. also you can try to get a bolt a hair longer and see if it catchs
