Default Tube A/C Evaporator?

Hope this is the right forum! My car has all new cosmetics in the front due to an accident.(some stupid lady ran the red light ) Anyways they told me they have to replace the smog pump which is covered w/insurance company. The only thing they can't replace is the Tube A/C Evaporator. It's the A/C tube on top or next to the passenger header. They advised me the insurance wont cover it because they're saying the reason it was damaged was because of my aftermarket exhaust. Well the point is the body shop guy said i will have to get the whole set up(a/c cannister, etc..)to replace it, but I told him no! Cant you can just replace the tubes. I did my search and I found AC Delco part# 1533164.Has anyone replace this before or have any idea how to fix this? Thanx!

that is BS if your a/c was working before the accident then they should fix it. headers have nothing to do with a/c i'm willing to bet that the body shop didn't put the a/c repairs in the insurance est. and they are jurking u around so they don't have to pay for it. i say call your insurance company directly and let them know that you are unhappy with the repairs on your car.

If it's the tube I'm thinking of it's like $60 at the dealer. I think it's like $40 at GMPD. I've had to replace that damned thing twice myself; once because I leaned on it and broke it, and more recently I was trying to remove the orifice tube and snapped the damn thing while I was holding it.

If it's the tube I'm talking about it is pretty easy. Hardest part is snaking the damn thing under the other things in the way. It's an odd shape and the length makes it kind of a pita. Once you have it in though it's just a couple of bolts and you're done.

Part number on GM Parts Direct is 10282758

It's number 15 in this pic, at least the part I replaced. Not saying it's guaranteed that's the part they say you need, but it sounds like it.

taintedmeat-It's the tube connected to the cannister on 13. I probably got confused. It's located next to the Right header. Does that tube come seperate or do I have to buy the whole thing? Thanx

Rockauto will sell you one for 50 I think. I got one from them, works great. Its the dryer. One bolt into the box on the firewall, one from the line from the compressor, one that holds it to the car. I would replace the seals while you are at it. O reilly carries them, they are a murray part. The next size up from the 8mm (that is the size for the condensor lines) and one size down from the compressor seals. They are metal around the outside with a rubber seal on the inside.

Better yet make the insurance do it.

Oreilly's sells those gaskets? I searched for days trying to find them when I did my A/C work last summer. Even the "real" parts guys at oreilly couldn't find them. I ended up getting them at GM for something crazy like 7 each.

Yeah, half of them do not know they have them. They are "Murray" brand. I had to actually go back into the back of their stock room and find a few myself (at their request...they were not going to get it done).

They are not marked at all, just with the number..no application, not even a picture on the box of what it is. You just have to know the manufacturer and the PN. I will be headed over to my local store for some intake bolts and I will try and pull the PNs off their chart and post them up.
