Antenna?

Antenna? When I first bought the car it stuck up about 4-5in, right before the last section would go down. I went to GM and bought a new one, hoping this would help the problem, same story....Has this happened to anyone? I intall it and it would grab the nylon strap and pull it down but it doesn't go all the way down. Stops right before the last section....?Help?? 
Do like I did, trade in your power unit for a stock o/e camaro fixxed mast, when I cover my car I just unscrew the mast, all of 1 minute to remove. Dont get me wrong, power units are kewl, but lets be honest, I for one turn my car on and off a lot and this leads to the antenna going up and down all to often and then unit failure, IMHO. Costs about $25 for all the o/e parts thru gmpartsdirect.com to do the "camaro ant" mod.
