ls6 PCV swap solved this problem for me. i was consuming around a quart every 5,000 and now i'm down to almost none.

Drastically dropped my oil consumption and made my idle smoother, kept the plugs and intake cleaner. You've gotta take the intake and valley cover off and do a mod to the block. I'd say 3 hours or so depending on tools available.
