Getting off the ground

Hey, I was wondering if it is safe to have my car completely lifted off the ground using 4 tire changing jacks. What are some alternatives that wont put a hole in my wallet?

jacks are never 100% safe... get yourself some jackstands

Even going to Autozone and getting Duralast jackstands is a much safer bet than just jacks.

thanks guys, what would you suggest if i wanted to get it much higher off the ground; enough to crouch or stand under?

last week I bought duralast 3 ton jack stands at autozone or discount or one of them stores for $18 a pair

Six ton, 2 feet jackstands from harborfreight for 28$/pair. My cars sitting on them right now while I do my clutch.

Jackstands . Wal Mart $15 for a pair. GM goodwrench brand. holds 6000 pounds
