Jack Points
Ok so some friends and I helped install headers on my friends lt1. When I usually jack up the car I do it from the side and jack up from the plastic piece and then put a piece of wood on top of the jack stand and set the car on that. But when they installed the headers he jacked the car up from the front using that big metal plate under the motor and then used the jack stands under the a arms. Is that the best way to do it?

I've done that lots of time. It's a good centerpoint and that piece is sturdy enough to jack from.
Also don't ever jack from the plastic piece on the sides (jacking puck). It'll cause your fenders to stick out, if they aren't already like that. I suggest you jack it from the frame rails.

Then scroll down until you get to Miscellaneous
Lift Points should be the last thing listed under Miscellaneous
