I hope this is it...
I've been chasing a gremlin for over a year now and I think I might have found him. My 2000 SS M6 has been experiencing detonation at WOT accompanied with black smoke for a while now and a SES light DTS P0430 or DTS P0420 that refuses to go away. So, to deal with the codes I replace both cats, clear codes... Codes comes back. Alright I say, and then replace all four 02's, clear codes... Codes comes back. WTH? OK I say, something else is killing this equipment. I come to reckon that the PCV system is responsible because the engine is trying to burn oil in the air/fuel mixture thus making the SES show a faulty 02 or Cat. I install a catch can and Seafoam the car to remedy this situation as seen in pic below.

It seemed to help for a couple of months as the pinging and smoke was reduced significantly until... the code came back. This time it's just the 0430 and our search function wasn't working to see if I could get anymore clues as what is going on. Today I up the hood while it's running to see if there is a vacuum leak which might explain the WOT ping and a somewhat rough idle. With a two foot piece of fuel hose held in my ear I noticed there a hissing sound coming from the EGR tubing that runs into the manifold. I undo the one bolt that holds the tube in place and see that there is some slop in the seal. Now, it's Saturday Night and the Dealers aren't open tomorrow, does any one know the part # to this rubber seal?
get you a 1 3/8 freeze plug and put in there, and have the codes tuned out by a tuner. BTW, very good location for your catch can! i like it, what did you used to hold it in place?
