headlight problem

My 2000 Trans Am started making a real bad noise from the driver's side headlight. I popped the hood & its the motor that sits behind the light. It keeps running after I unlock the car with the transponder or turn the car off. Makes a real bad grinding sound. Anyone know why it is doing this?

the plastic gears are stripped. there is a place on here that sells brass replacemnt gears for it. im not sure where tho, as i dont have a T/A. someone will chime in.

Just spreading the word as I just found out about these. HELP (motormite, Dorman) makes a replacement plastic headlight gear for about 15 bucks. Autozone can order them, but it may take a few days to get them in. Part # 42400.
