Default Low Coolant light

The low coolant light keeps popping on on my Dad's 98 SS which has only 20k on it. We checked the coolant and it was full and looked very clean. The temp. gauge stays the same as it always has been and the 98's actually work. Could the sensor have gone bad or something? If so, how hard is that to change and where is it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The sensors do go bad - easy to replace yourself. It's a few inches below the radiator cap, can't miss it. Some people just disconnect it to keep the light off. My car didn't come with one, think they stopped using them in 2000 on our cars.

Ok well I disconnected it and the light went off. Is it ok to just let the plug hang there in the engine bay? No use replacing it if they stopped using it in later years.

If my car had one I'd probably replace it, don't mind spending the money. If you want to keep it disconnected I'd tape the connector and zip tie it out of the way.
