Default the weirdest thing just happend

I was racing this 08 vette today and when I let up off the gas the car stayed at WOT even as I braked the car kept wanting to go. I had my foot all the way on the brake with the e brake pulled and the Rpms stayed at 6000 for about 45 seconds and then it slowly came down. Any idea what the hell that could have been?

I would have turned the key off, then changed my shorts. Jeezuz, 45 seconds is a long ******* time to be at WOT, especially at the point where you're ready to stop racing.

My throttle cable got stuck wide open on the interstate. The arm got stuck under a hose clamp for my throttle body. Not fun.

Wow, just thinking about that makes me sick to my stomach. Glad you're alright and at least you didn't have an accident. If it ever happens again cut the key off.....however be prepared to lose steering when you do that. I remember reading on the board about somebody who did that and the steering wheel locked which caused him to go off the road.

But the important question is..........

Did you win the race?

Yeah easy to turn it back too far when in a panic. But if you just turn it back 1 click to kill the engine it still hasn't locked the wheel yet and as long as you are moving forward still the wheel won't be too terribly hard to turn. As you slow down though it'll get harder.

Also, if you have to kill the engine do be aware your brakes will not be easy to use - they'll still work but you'll have to pretty much stand on the pedal to get any braking power to speak of.

But the important question is..........

Did you win the race?
Yeah, since you're OK... Did ya win?

i thought that was what happened when you had a cam and a stall. I have been told that the rpms will be so high at idle that you would have to smash the brake just to stop.

Are you sure the floormat wasn't holding the pedal down? Might also want to check the IAC.

DAYUM !
That sounds like what the Cobra guys have been going through.Ford had so many complaints they finally had to issue a public recall on over 20,000 03 & 04 Cobras for sticking gas pedal's.
Seems the carpet would catch hold of the pedal & cause it to stay at full throttle.

No, thats what happens when you have a cam and you DONT have a stall, because the car will want to pull through the brakes. With a stall its alot looser and it will just sit or creep forward easy.

bad bad bad idea if the gas pedal is stuck you are gonna redline the motor unless you pop it in neutral after you kill the engine via turning the key
