Default Car Is Stuttering

Geez been awhile since I been here. But anways. I was having a major problem with my car so I took it to a guy I know to scan the codes and it was the map sensor. Well the vaccum hose on it was melted. So we fixed it. Ran good for a couple days. Now i'm going to try to explain this. When I hit the gas it stutters. It feels like I keep hitting gas then brake. And it only does it in certain gears. Could this be tranmission prob? Also there is no codes thrown. I dunno if anybody has had this problem before. But thanks for reading and any help.

A little more info would help. What speeds? Part/full throttle? What RPMs? Is it happening only during acceleration?

Sounds like it could be a misfire. Have you checked to make sure all the plug wires are fully seated? Can you scan the car while driving to check for misfires?

Well misfires throw codes doesn't it? And when it started happening I thought that might be it so I changed the plugs... Im thinking it could be wires... Is that possible. Ok it does it when I take off any amount of throttle. Shakes really bad around 45-50. Above 60 it stops. And like when i'm going 55 and have it at a steady throttle every second or so it will like cut out and feel like my car gonna fall apart. It also runs better when it's first started before it warms up. I don't know how else to explain it. Someone has to of had this problem before. Thanks for your reply. Oh and yeah it only does it during accerleration. It runs fine during idle.

Misfires don't always throw codes. The same is true with the SES light. Misfires don't always trip that either.

I'd double check all the plugs and wires first. The problem you're having sounds very much like misfires. Unless you have some way of scanning the car, pull each plug and check to make sure the ceramic portion on each one isn't cracked. Also check the wires to make sure none of them have cracks either. If the plugs and the wires are good, put it all back together and make sure you're getting one solid click when hook back up to the coil pack and two clicks on the plugs. Make sure the wires are all running to the correct plugs too. Then drive the car around a bit more to see if you're still getting the stuttering. If so, check the MAF and make sure the wires are clean and not bent or broken.

BTW, if you can scan the car while you're driving, do so and look at each cylinder for misfires. At least that way you'll know which cylinder's giving you fits before diving under the hood.

Besides that, you'll probably need to go into some more indepth diagnosics.

Good luck,
Marc
