How long since it was started? How cold is it?Maybe your battery is low charge.Put your battery on charge,if it has boost mode give it at least 5 minutes b4 you boost.Try that b4 you start checking the starter.Good luck

lol.

this is great.

i think the flywheel has probably broken into 75 pieces. you need a new flywheel, starter and car.

The click you hear is probably the starter solenoid activating. But not turning the flywheel. The starter gear could be hung up on the flywheel, or you just don't have enough juice. Put the car in a high gear, clutch in, roll or rock it a little and pop the clutch, just to move the crank a little. Then try to start. This assumes you have eliminated the low charge factor. Remove the battery and bring it in somewhere warm and fully charge it. Then put it back in the car. Try that first.

Sounds like you broke your rear end.

JK... It's your battery. Jump it then let it charge.

your car is pretty much dead, no chance it will ever run again. Ill take it off your hands for you

IM KIDDING.. check the battery and the terminals to make sure they have water ( unless you have an optima) and put it on charge for a little bit. If it fires up , take the charger off and let it idle for a little bit to charge the battery up. If that doesnt work your culprit is likely your battery. Buy a new battery and go from there. If thats the case then check the alternator. If the starter is clicking or the car turned over it bit... it likely isnt the starter

Just got a new battery less than 2 weeks ago. Its not the battery. I was just checking thought it was the starter hung in the fly but was just making sure i wasn't over looking something small.. Ice on the ground now with about 2in covering the car. I tried to roll start it and tires just slid on ice so ill have to wait for the ground to thaw. Shouldn't be driving it in the ice anyways. And thanks on the dead battery comments, they were really helpful.

Not the alternator. Ran just fine when i turned it off. When i turned the key it tuned over once and then clicked. I have never had a starter hang before but its the only thing i can think it would be.

Think of the battery as a bucket of electricity. The colder it is the smaller the bucket becomes (it's a chemistry thing).

Your bucket is empty.

Take a new battery ,put it in the car. Turn on the headlights, radio, interior dome, etc.without the engine running and pretty soon that battery will be dead. But it is new!!! Charge it up and it will be good again. Amazing!

Why is your battery dead?? Who knows, it could be many things. You will have to check them all out. Glove box light, dome light, short, loose cable, bad cable, on and on the list goes. Do a search and you can find many of the most common things to check. My favorite is ammeter in line while pulling fuses and relays to find a drain.

But don't get huffy with what has been given you. All the posts seem pretty right on.

just my .02

Are you still hearing click click click?
Key feeds relay, relay feeds soleniod, soleniod feeds 12volt brushed DC motor, motor thoughs out piniongear into flywheel, engine turns over.

Find problem in sequence.

What do you mean by "unthawing" it? New battery or not, if you had accessories on without the car running than you just ran your battery down. IT doesn't mean anything is wrong with the battery, just that you ran it down.

I'm willing to put money on it being the battery..... Let me guess when you turn the key the gauges go crazy to?
