Amount of p/s fluid needed to flush the system
Amount of p/s fluid needed to flush the system Hey guys, I am going to flush my power steering system and not exactly sure how much fluid I will need. I am replacing it with redline fluid and was wondering how much I need to order. Searched but could not find my answer. Anybody know how much new fluid I will need to completely flush the system? not much really.. the systems hold almost nothing all you gotta do is unhook the return put it in a bucket and have someone turn the wheels lock to lock while you fill and once the fluid is coming out clean turn the car off fill up then turn it lock to lock with the cap off and get the air out of the system
i would say buy about 2 quarts, and im not to sure if you will have enough time to even turn the steering wheel! so you will still be fine without turning it! just try to avoid running the pump dry since it will take a few weeks till all the air will get out the system! and get ready for the return line to squirt oil like crazy!

done screw with removing the return line all that does is create a huge mess, you can clean out the whole system pretty good by removing as much as you can with the baster, adding fluid, going lock to lock a couple times and repeat the process until your satisfied
