help!!!!

help!!!! I have a 96 ta and I'm having trouble the opti went out on it so my buddy that owns a rad ls1 shop replaced it for me then on the way home the maf went out so we replaced it then I noticed it was starting to overheat my car never ran above 180 before ever I have no thermo so I know it not that it not a head gasget I can't ask my boy for any more help he's done a grip for me for free and he hates lt1s!! Anybody have any clues or know anywhere I can take it in the valley thats cheap???
Yes lt1's can be a pain in the *** 
But you could always look into the problem a little before resorting to taking it somewhere. How quickly does the car overheat after its been turned on? Is there anything you can notice with the water pump? (leaks or weird noises?) Hows the coolant level? Are the fans turning on when they should? Give us a little more info and I'm sure we could help you fix it and you wouldnt have to take it anywhere and spend a ton of cash.

help an lt1 ride again!!!!!!! what up bro thanks for the replie the car takes a bit to start heating up fans come on at 180 waterpump is good the car only seems to heat up when I stop moving as soon as I roll it seems to be ok. I was talking to my boy and I told him that when we put it back together after draining the rad and water pump and so on I filled it back with just water and no anti freeze my boy told me that u can't do that because then the water will boil and create steam in the system!!! Does sound true to u?? I think I'm gonna go to midas 2marrow and have the rad flushed and the right mix put in and bleed the air bubbles out u get this please hit me up!!!! I've got a blk 96 ta 6 speed with zo6 wheels 19-11s out back short throw vortec elbow ported maf k&n CAI 52mm bbk tb edel shortie headers no cats 3" mandrel bent true dual with mangaflow x-pipe and dynomax bullets hypertech tune no thermostat motive 4.10s I think that's about it oh and all the smog stuff pump etc removed I think all I need is a lt4 knock and a real tune and I'd b done!! But once I've fixed this little prob im selling it of u know anyone hit me up and once again thanks 4 the replie!!!!!!!!
