Default Question on removing the clutch fan assembly

How do I remove the fan clutch assembly on a 5.3L without removing the whole water pump?

if im not mistaken you need to rent the tool form autozone! it holds the assembly in place while you need to twist the big nut off!

yeah.. not sure how similar it is to my 97 F-150 4.6L but mine there's a tool set. You can make one yourself out of steel plate that's how simple the tool is, but one long wrench for the big nut on the fan, and one crow's foot (a wrench with a 3/8" sqaure hole for a ratchet) that grabs the four bolts on the water pump pulley to hold it steady.

I checked both Kragen and autozone, they both have tools, but they're for Fords Chryslers and Jeep, Nothing else.

If you have an air chisel you can use it on the nut at a 45 degree angle towards the flat spot and hit it once or twice counter clockwise and it will come right off.
