30mph why no power

Mine's an A4 with 3:73's and I wasn't satisified until I got a PT4000 stall converter put in a couple weeks ago. A lot of M6's and other various manual cars would take advantage and want to roll race from that speed because they KNEW it was my weakest roll speed. Now, the problem is gone and I roll race from any speed. You seriously need a T/C. With GU5 3:23 gears out back, you could get away with larger, but, it takes some getting used to. After owning two Yank SS3600's, I decided to go bigger ... this PT4000 is loose on the street, but, that's how I like it.
Some folks say when it comes to converters, 'go big or stay home'. I say 'go big or stay slow'.

so let me get this right your saying if i go with a converter im going to be all good? or should i go with both a converter and a gears so i dont have the problem.
as long as its not a problem with the car then its ok ill just race from a 20 or 40 roll lol

not sure if this is normal but when im going around 5-15mph pulling out of the apartment or in a school zone the car really gets the rpms a little higher than it should just for regular driving. it almost acts like its pissed to be going that slow is that a normal ls1 thing ?

Im sure its not wise to be doing this and i dont advise it but when your going from roll between 25-40 just drop it all the way to first in an auto. Im not saying you should do it or not to try it atleast once. The rpm's climb alittle so when you punch they climb rather quick so be ready to shift or youll hit the rev limiter. Again im not telling you to do this. But to me I mean my friend it puts it in its "sweet spot"

I understand that. Im saying for guys with stock gears and stock converter. Try and drop it in 1st for a 25-35 mph roll and see what it does. Im not saying its the best or the smartest thing to do you be the judge of that yourself. Out of the 3 or 4 times ive done it the tires have broke loose twice.

yeah 30mph is the worst spot for a 3.23 stock converter a4 and i swear it felt like a minivan would pull on me from a 30 roll now ive got a stall and 4.10's and dont have to worry about any deadspots too much

Even with my old Yank SS3600 and 3.73's, it was still a problem roll racing between 28-40 ... still a deadspot, but, not near as dead as it was when I had 3.23's and a stock converter. With the PT4000 converter, I was just saying the problem is completely gone and roll racing from any speed isn't a problem anymore.
Stall and headers should always be your first mod's IMHO. A lot of folks keep building on power, but after headers and converter, I'd beef up the driveline before doing heads/cam ... that's just me, though ... broken a lot of stuff.

a pt is a 800 dollar converter.. it better not have a dead spot.. haha.. converter and headers.. you will be amazed at the difference.. you can get pacesetters right now from texas speed for 250 or so.. good deal..

stall.. gears will do a LITTLE bit.. but mainly if you go to 373s... your just going to change your dead spots.. thats why anytime someone wants to race a stock ls1.. they usually want to go from 35..
323s and 273s are different though.. i think with 273s it will kick down at like 34 and my 373s kick doing at like 28.. but im not 100% on that...
actually best way to solve your problem come to think of it.. forge.. H/C.. procharger.. 9".. built trans.. some suspension and tires....
^^^^ no dead spots.. anywhere..... ever.. lol
