sewing machine noise?
sewing machine noise? i got my cart 3 months ago and it bone stock and i dont know if i just didnt notice at first or if its goten a little louder but i hear a little noise that i thought was an exhaust leak and i think it still could be but i searched and found a thread on a sewing machine like noise and that kinda describes the sound mines makeing i can hear it a little in lower to mid rpms with the windows up but with the windows down and i drive by a parked car or a building i can hear it a lot louder and it only does it under load if i rev it in neutral it doesnt, anyone know what it could be?? im taking it in to get checked for exhaust leakage today

if its not affecting performance and not to loud dont worry about it ls1's are noisy cars 
My suggestion, it sounds like it might be knock.
Two years ago, I would hear a sewing machine sound in mid gears, and like you, mostly when driving by parked cars, walls or through an underpass.
It turned out my tuner had too much timing in certain areas of the timing table.
If yours is stock, no tuning or anything, you might have a problem with the engine causing the knock. try a search on knock to find out dozens of possible reasons.
Oh and yes! Knock would be bad, very bad for our LS1 cars.
