tune up hey guys im possibly lookin into buyin an 98 and up ss or t/a soon, i currently have a 94 z28 and im not much of a mechanic so i always bring my car to the shop to get fixed. Now a tune up on my 94 is about 750 bucks with a new opti and plugs and wires and new water pump. My question is how much do shops charge to do a tune up on a LS1 camaro or t/a.
It's going to vary all over the place.Shops just tend to charge you an arm and a leg to work on these cars like if we own Ferraris or Lambos...
They (LS1's) are a little difficult to work on but not as bad as an LT1 (opti)
My best advice would be to search and read and try to do most of the work yourself.
A basic tune up would not be very hard:
Plugs (can be a pain,but still very much in reach of a beginner)
Plug wires (not really necessary unless the stockers are damaged)
Air filter
Fuel filter
Oil change w/filter
Change your coolant
Check/replace hoses/belts as needed.

Also see if changing the Tranny fluid and rear end (differential) fluids is something you might want to tackle yourself.
After doing these things,just keep a little notebook as to when and what milage you did these items to your car.
