Default 05 monte carlo WONT TURN OFF COMPLETELY HELP HELP

i have an 05 monte carlo...i know nothing about. enherited from late father...

PROBLEM is it wont turn off completely...the key wont turn all the way left and electronics stay on....

my dad said he would have to reach under the shifter area and "do something" push a button/pull a lever/flip a switch ???? no clue...but i need to find out whats wrong.

already had ignition replaced and still no fix.

help lol

Sounds like there is an ignition release somewhere. Look on the bottom side of the steering column, see if there is a release button of some sort.

Could be a issue with the shifter release mechansim. If its faulty then it may act as if the car is still in gear and wont let you turn the key off all the way. Try messing with the shifter while turning the key off....
