the fuse for the air conditioning and the cruise control, which are both on the same fuse keep blowing. i know there is a short somewhere but i want to know where to start. any ideas? its getting hot again and i'd like to have air this summer unlike last.

bump.. i replaced the 20amp with a 25 and smoke was coming out of my steering columb in my car when the A/C was on so I think I'll start there.. any ideas?

If smoke was coming out of your steering column then i would start with the cruise control first. It may be the switch that is shorted out itself.

eh.. I forgot to mention that it stopped when I turned the A/C off. I was sitting in the drivethrough when this happened.

Look in the steering column.

I had smoke come burning out of mine while I was driving down the freeway in 99 after I had it to the dealer three times to get it fixed for popping the fuse like yours is
