Default AC Delco Spark Plugs

Can someone please confirm whether the gap setting for Delco spark plugs in 98-02 TA's (LS1) is supposed to be .06?

Meineke told me that AC Delco plugs are platinum and so they come pre-gapped. Is this true?

I noticed my old plugs have a gap of almost 1mm. What happens if the gap is bigger than it's supposed to be?

the spark may not happen if there is too much distance for it to jump or may take longer to spark.

Well, the Meineke boys will have to work just a little harder for their money tomorrow!

What kind of measurement is .06? Converted to millimeters, what would that be?

.06 is a measurement in inches. it simply mean 6 hundredths of an inch

.1 mean tenths
.001 is thousandths

OK, so I'll just remember 1.397mm for the ruler. Thank you very much for clarifying that.

One last thing I want to ask is if AC Delco Platinum Rapid Fire plugs are suppsed to have flat tips? The one that I kept with me to install with a new wire has a flat tip, and all my old plugs have a pointy tip. With a flat tip, this plug has a gap of over 2mm. I don't know if the ones that were installed are all like that.

Would anyone happen to know the preset gap of AC Delco Platinum Rapid Fire plugs?

I would suggest buying a spark plug gauge and measure the gap.

What's a good anti-seize to fuse or the LS1 and AC Delco? Can I pick it up at Autozone?

it depends on wether you want the platinum tip, regular, rapid fire, or anything else that is available from ac delco! but yes autozone sells the ac delco plugs. but whats weird is that on my 99 the factory plugs were NGK plugs made in japan and they were not tr55. they looked just like the ac delco plugs but said ngk on em!

I still have the original ac delco spark plug so i'll get whatever was on there stock. Reason i ask is because i belive the stock plugs are a "hot" plug. And i think the tr55 is a cold plug, not sure?

Did you buy the car new? I would think someone changed the plugs since there not ac delco plugs.

Yes, just as until very recently, NGK actually made the AC Delco branded Iridium plugs under sub contract.
