Exclamation Urgent!! How do I remove winshield wiper arms?

I'm trying to take off my 3 pt strut tower brace for an ls6 manifold install. now I need to remove the plastic by the windshield wipers but I need to remove the arms first. I already took the nut off but can't get the arm off tried the battery post remover tool but all it did was chip my hood. I need help removing this asap.
thanks in advance.

There is a tool just for this at local part stores(Advance Auto). I bought one to do mine. It worked great on the first one and I broke it on the second. Mine are on pretty good for some reason.

Buy the tool, and dont risk damaging your hood or breaking your windshield.

The $5 tool is cheap insurance, even if you only use it once or break it!

I put the nut back on 1-2 turns, and pull up on the arm while hitting the nut with a hammer quickly.

Great and good luck with that! I hope lady luck is on YOUR side when using a hammer towards your windshield.

Well being that I am not hitting the windshield, nothing bad has happened on the, oh, 50 cars I have done this to?

He said the tool wasn't working for him so I suggested something else. Do you have a suggestion for him?

Is that a question or a statement?

I don't know what a 'battery post remover tool is'...but its not the correct one to use. No wonder it wasnt working for him.

Yup! Buy the correct tool from the auto store, or have a shop do it that has the tools.

It's a rhetorical question.

You do what works for you, I'll keep doing what works for me and save time and hassle.

Sounds good - I just want what is going to be best for M_Ghoniim, since he asked the question.

He might not have such good luck and experience (as your 50 wiper arm installations) as you and others using a hammer near the windsheild.

Or a quick and simple way is to hit right at the wiper hinge with the side of your fist, dont have to hit the snot out of it just a good thump then pull the wiper up as if you were cleaning your windshield grasp and wiggle a little and poof comes right off. On f-bodys you have to make sure the splines are seperated before you tug on it or you will break the cast aluminum bracket under the cowl. You could just by a tool I just refuse to buy a tool I will never use.

That doesn't make any sense. Of course you wouldn't buy it, if you'll never use it.

If you bought the tool needed to remove the wiper arm, the tool would have been used. So I dont get what your trying to say.

What I am trying to say is to each is own. Just giving another way to remove them. In a 100 years I wouldn't buy a windshield wiper removal tool, have not ever used one and unless car manufacturers do some drastic re-engineering of wiper arms I will not ever use one. Just for your info I have installed over 12,000 windshields, just some food for thought before you get bent out of shape.
