its the vats system. try cleaning your chip in the key with rubbing alcohol and see if it fixes it. if not your looking at repairing the orange wires in the column and possibly a new ign switch

Just find out the resistance on your key and go to Radio Shack and buy the resistor. Then splice the 2 orange wires coming from the steering column and solder the resistor in between.

well if your car is still starting and the security light is on yeah your contacts inside the column that contact the chip are about to wear out, if its not starting at all and the light is on get ready to dish out some big bucks . thats if you take it to a dealer
