Removing the steering wheel HELP

I need to pull my steering wheel and air bag to replace the turn signal switch. Is there a trick to getting the air bag out??? DOes the battery have to be disconnected?

I remember reading somewhere in this website that you don't have to remove the steerring wheel for this.
