Default power steering hose leak...need info

recently i noticed when i'm backing up or pulling out with the steering wheel turned there is a rubbing kind of sound coming from the front of the car... when i had my oil changed a few days ago the mechanic said the power steering was leaking PTS at the hose... what exactly does that mean? also, would this cause the steering to be less tight? because if feels like the steering has become looser here lately and not as heavy as it was ... i had a new steering rack put on about 4k miles ago... and i checked the power steering fluid and it's fine...

there are 2 hoses, the return and the pressure! if u havent ever touched the return line then im sure its fine, in my guess you may be leaking fluid from the pressure hose, get it replaced, but check under the car and make sure i know whats going on

PS leaks aren't always immediately detectable from the reservior dipstick. If your high pressure hose is leaking, you should get it to stop ASAP, whether it be replacing the hose or using a stop leak fluid. This is because your alternator is directly below the PS pump, and if that burns out, your engine won't run.

I've been through three alternators too... lol. Mine was leaking from the pressure hose... replaced that, and it's leaking less but still leaking!

yeah i assume it's the pressure hose but i'm not positive, they guy at the shop didn't say.....
when your all's were leaking did the car steer differently??
because it feels like my steering isn't as heavy as it was before i found this out... the steering isn't as tight!!
