Default wtf is wrong with my headlights

so recently, my car stalled out in a parking lot when i put it in drive... this is the first time its done that since my fuel pump went.

i started it back up and it ran fine, so i thought nothing of it.

but now whenever I use my keyfob to unlock or lock my doors, the headlights go up and then back down... and the drivers headlight makes an awful noise after it closes... the motor is still trying the close the headlight i guess... it stops if i bang on the headlight cover a few times.

also every once in a while the car seems like it wants to stall when i'm sitting at a light... drives perfect though once im going.

anybody have a problem like this?

The headlight issue is a common problem. The plastic gear is stripped.

Not sure about the stalling, but make sure your MAF is clean and your intake is tight and the MAP sensor is OK.

Stripped Gear in the headlight motor, When there is surge in power to try to make the headlight close/open... they do that when the key fob is hit. Dont bang on your cover, there is a writeup on how change out the gear dont use another nylon one, buy a brass one. Or you can just 180 the gear because it only uses one side.

goto the "Firebird" section and read the sticky about headlights and you'll see whats wrong.

Unfortunately you have to waste your time coming here first, then learn how to resolve your problem, so now you can go to the CORRECT section for this problem, but the mods/admins here haven't figured it out yet that the sticky should be here. TYPICAL crap

Anyway, good luck with the fix.

for the stall problem check you spark plugs, power coiles (definatly a must),mass air flow sensor, and make sure you got the proper amount of transmission fluid in your car don't over fill

Finally. But I think most people will never look in there, it might work better if it were its own sticky.

If you prefer, I can make all 24 links in there stickies to force people to scroll past them all before they can read any threads.... or I can be neat and just leave a general faq sticky that holds all topics.

Either way, its not going to stop people from not looking at the page and just clicking the "new thread" button anyway.

i would say it is battery/alternator related. ur car will do all sorts of weird **** when its not getting the correct volts, and for stalling, if it is only happening after the car is fully warmed then its the alternator

Not your fault, it should be a big flashing bold typed sticky at the top of this section

We used to have that feature in the user support section, but it was lost in the last upgrade.
