Creaking when shifting
Creaking when shifting Hey guys, I have a 2002 firehawk trans am, and when I shift from park into reverse, I get a loud creaking noise I think from the transmission and a slight surge even though my foot is all the way on the brake. I back down my driveway, and then when i come to a complete stop and put it in drive, it does the same thing, loud creak and small surge forward. The transmission has no other problems, it drives perfectly fine, but the creaking is a bit worrysome. It sounds just like if you let off the brakes very slowly and get that creaking noise.
Any ideas? I have done a search and nothing turned up.

My guess would be a mount somwhere. Either Engine or Transmission. As you place it in a gear, the engine/transmission will tourqe up in the direction the transmission in trying to move you. This in turn, will put stress on the mounts(engine/trannie/tourqearm) perhaps causing a squeek. Somwere to start anyway! Crawl underneath and checker' out! 
My car does this but it has gotten worse. It now happens under light load when going slow or coming to a stop you can hear a deep "creaking" noise. I was thinking it was probably a universal joint on the driveshaft but I dont get a vibration. Im hoping its not my rear end
