Fan stays one hours after I cut the car off

damm i just checked the haynes manual and couldent find anything about the fans always on. ill try to do a search on google

I unpluged that connector and checked the wires but everything seems fine. Is there any way I can test to see if they are grounding ???

ok u unpluged that connector now did the fans shut off???

I did that with the battery disconnected so I wont get shocked but I can try it with the battery connected.

Do you think maybe the fan motors are sticking and not shutting off ??

try to ground them manually using alligator clips, or if u have a voltmeter, see if the pcm is giving it ground immediatly after u start the car. try that by putting the volt meter on the contiuaty test and put in one pin in the blue or green connector, and ground the other connector the cars frame. if the car is off and it does hav continuity then there is a grounding issue from the wiring to the pcm, if it doesent, then start the car and if the pcm grounds the wire right away then its a pcm issue

bro do this with the battery connected!! u wont get shocked, because these wires are not direct they go to the fuse box through clicking relays b4 they even hit the battery, so it wont even spark when u connect it. and if u do something wrong its safe dont worry

Ok so I just did it with the battery connected and they did not turned off when I unplug that conenctor.

u sure it was the correct connector right??? ok now ur problem lies on its way after the connector to the fuse box. when the fans are on are they real loud or not so loud? in other words is it the high speed or low speed fans? the green is low speed and blue is igh speed. now all that is left for u is to trace those two wires to there source and inspect them carefully! and that is where ur problem lies. or if u know how a relay works u can remove the relay and manually override the relay with alligator clips, that way u can simplify where the problem lies. just now start off by tracing the blue and green wire to the fuse box!

Ok so I just tested it. I used a digital volt meter and it had no continuity. With either car on or off. I did noticed that when the car was on and I disconnected the connector, the car's idle would change.

ok just trace the wires back to the fuse box man, forget the pcm wireing side

**** i dident keep in mind that u completly pulled the connctor out with the car started! hopefully that dident set no bullshit ses code

Man this thing is pissing me off. I traced the cables and they look completely fine. I then used the voltmeter on the fuse box where the cooling fan fuse goes and the lead closer to the 40 amp fuse has like 180 something and the other one has no continuity.

wow the problem is like right there man!! lol i wish i could be there to help u! o **** ur in california. u can also try removing the fusebox maybe the wire is fucked up somewhere around there! but ur problem is 100% grounding issue dude!

Ok. Yeah all wires look completely fine, I will remove the fuse box and see whats up. I just cant get the damn fuse box off

I noticed that the wires that run to that fuse, the cooling fan one, are a thicker red and a thin orange ... I thought they are supposed to be green and blue ?

Damn man, I wish you were closer so you can come help me out

Man, you know what just happened, I took off the fuse box, looked at it, everything seems normal so I put in the Fuse and the fans DID NOT came on!!!!

THEN, as soon as I put the Fuse box back in the holder, the Fans turned on!!!!

I just need to figure out why, it doesnt seem like its making ground or anything, everything looks fine.

Any suggestions ?

Ok so it turns out that the Relay for Fan #3 comes on as soon as I put the Fuse box back in to place. I took off the Relay for Fan #3 and placed the box down and nothing, Fans never came on ..

Should I take the cables out of the fuse box and inspect the tips ?

humm that is now where the problem lies in between. remove the fusebox and wiggle the fan relay #3 wires around a bit hey maybe they are just bypassing each other? cuz if the relay wires touch each other the relay has no effect

Man I was moving things around and checking wires and nothing. Its funny because if I dont put the fuse box back in place, The fans dont turn on BUT as soon and the fuse box clicks into place then it turns on

lol i cant believe how close u are to fixing the problem! its not like the box is made of metal either to transfer the ground! humm maybe when the box is cliping into place could it be that the wire is rubbing onto the chasis someplace? this is weird man the car has a mind of its own
