It obviously pushes the rod down to activate the switch, but I spent 2 hours trying to get it back in there, and couldn't figure it out...
any help ???????
this is in the steering column where the turn signal is....

what am I missing??????
put it back in just like the diagram showed, I even was able to get the plastic piece to snap back in...
took me all of 15 minutes, to get it back in the slot.... but it no worky.....
I think I had to push the rod down but keep it in line with the concave grove. Then when you have the plate in place let the rod up.

You are correct though. The actuall switch is pop riveted to a sheet metal bracket and that bracket has slots on it. The screws, however, will be very hard to get to. They are facing up. You can adjust it back to fit. It just won't be easy.
These are good cars though. they are worth the trouble.
