Jacking Off (jack point locations)
I am getting my car warranty serviced on Friday (horrid squeak from rear pass side when I hit bumps), and I have heard horror stories about jacking the car in the wrong manner and the resultant bent quarter panels. Where is it that you do NOT want to jack the car from, where is the point that causes the panels to bend.
Where is it that you DO want to lift the car from?
I am assuming the dealer will have big hydraulic lifts (and i don't trust any dealer
to know the jack points), so I am referring to the hydraulic lifts, though I would also like to know when using a floor jack where not to lift from. Thanks alot.

there are spots on the sub frames in front of the rear tires and behind the front tires that make good jack spots.
if you dont trust a dealer to know jack spots, what DO you trust them to do?
Those tabs hanging down behind the front tires on my car are already bent (where the stock jack would have lifted from).
Does this mean that in the past my car has been improperly jacked (Since I bought it I have not raised the front)

buddy you are worrying to much. They know where to lift the car...im sure they lift 100's of them a month..
if they mess it up do you think you are going to have to pay for it>?

Famous last words! I've seen lots of Fbodies with undercarriage damage thanks to dealer jacking habits.

My cars don't go to the shop unless absolutely necessary and usually I want to stand right beside them while they do the work (can't do that at a dealership though - wonder why? What are they hiding?)

My car is at the dealer being worked on by someone from my Buick club. I'm quite nervous but know it's in good hands. If he scratches it or creases the leather, I'll be pissed and he knows it!!!
Can't say don't worry about your car. I'm very **** and I let everyone that gets near my cars know it. That's why no one will work on them but me. If they mess it up, it will NEVER be the same.

What year GNX did you see?

When my dad had his '87 GN, we took it to a shop to have something done (I can't remember what), but would you believe some Jerkoff took the car on a test ride...and as he departed the garage, he drove right past the waiting room window with the tires spinning and smoking! I mean, come on, at least get out of sight before you pound on the car! Needless to say, we never went back to that a$*hole!
I only had to take my car in once for a clutch return spring, but I stood there to BS with them and watch them work on my car. At the dealership I go to they have 1 guy who always works on the fbodys and vettes.
