Default what type of brakes disc or drum

never done a break job before its an 02 camaro z28 my friend is goiin to help me and he asked if they were disc or drum breaks

they are disc.... although the rears have a drum cast as part of the disc and uses a drum setup as the e/parking brake

The good thing about changing brakes is the one on the other side is the same(if ya' get stuck). Been there $.02

Disk. Changing pads on these cars is easy and changing rotors is only a couple more steps.

If you do the rear rotors, you need to be familiar with drums because you'll have to adjust the parking brake on any rear rotor replacement. This adjustment is done with the drum brake star wheel adjuster, etc.

I did not have to adjust anything when I changed all my rotors. Actually, the parking brake seemed to work better. Maybe I was just lucky.

yeah you dont need to adjust the parking brake.

if used properly from day one, the shoes will never need adjusting nor replacement.

I wouldn't be supprised if most replacement rotors are close enough that an adjustment is not absolutely requried or not even needed at all. The shoes will last a lifetime - but it all depends on the diameter of the bore on the old rotors vs. the new rotors. If they differ by a few hundredths, the brakes will need to be adjusted. Not sure what the odds are. Somewhere between 0 and 100%
